Branch connections

Branch connections (usually referred to as TKY) are among the most challenging joints to inspect using ultrasonic testing. According to European standards, they are not considered standard T-joints (A.2) but have their own dedicated drawing (A.7) 📘.

In practice, a single joint can require up to five separate test configurations. Performing a reliable inspection without first mapping out the ultrasonic beams entering the joint is often difficult – and sometimes impossible. Ideally, the joint geometry can be obtained before welding 🛠️.

Our company offers a dedicated training program focused on inspecting these types of joints – using both classic, manual ultrasonic testing and advanced, modern techniques such as Phased Array 🚀.
