The joint in the photo was examined during the operational phase – it had been welded back in the 1970s. And there were more such “beauties” 🌼

Today, the advancement of non-destructive testing methods and the increased focus on quality control, especially during the manufacturing stage, significantly reduces the risk of such nonconformities ⚙️✅

Unfortunately, in this case, both the welding technique and quality control failed – even though the joint had undergone radiographic testing 📸
🎨 Primer paint was applied to better highlight the nonconformities in the image.
